In a vacuum, I don't think Trump would have ever attacked the Chinese. Who actually incited riots were Maxine waters, AOC, and countless other leftist politicians and media networks who provoked and praised the highly destructive BLM protests for 6 months during an election year, and walked away Scot free, unlike trump who was fraudulently impeached twice. Jan 6 was a peaceful protest over a blatantly rigged election pal (capitol police waved the protestors into the building).
This is part of the issue. People don't realize how many people (probably 50%) of the country believe the election was illegitimate. That's why the capitol event is the source of such focus and exploitation.
