Quick pivot today before tomorrow’s global news and markets note.
Buckle in boys — today’s going to be a banger. Following on our highly successful and well read piece Men’s Guide To Dating I wanted to follow up with a part 2 — namely because the clip below went viral on social media and was the subject of discussion across various platforms.
It also displays several lessons that we will go through today.
Modern dating and male/female relationships in my personal view has never been more toxic and unnatural.
Women are focused on being “girl-bosses” or “feeling out all of their options” and are encouraged to do this by the media, social media influencers, and popular culture. Men are running around like chickens with their heads cut off — eager because of the seemingly common promiscuity displayed by women these days but also discouraged by the lack of women who have traditional values and will make good moms or wives down the line.
Abundance of options seems to be one of the key issues at play. That, and digital access to porn, sexually explicit content, and sexually charged subscription services. No really — at this point we have women in politics making sexual content online including Virginia legislative candidate Susanna Gibson that broke headlines for having videos on Chaturbate with live webcam performances. We even have Christian Only Fans influencer like Nita Marie saying the following:
“God is guiding me through my OnlyFans career and he said I should continue creating content until my 70s.
“[My husband] doesn’t want me to retire either – he likes the money too much.”
Sexual content is proliferated at an ungodly level these days.
A recent study of OnlyFans demographics found that the average age of users who end up paying for a subscription is between 35 and 44 years old. The OnlyFans platform grows at a rate of 70% per month and has OnlyFans has more than 210 million users according to (EarthWeb/Hyper Local Cloud). It now has over 120 million registered users and has paid out a total of over $5 billion to creators since its inception in 2016 (TechReport).
Only Fans and similar sites create synthetic versions of healthy natural sexual relations between men and women — men can access “sex” online with little to no effort and women can shut their brains off and simply sell their bodies online for money.
More importantly — it destroys the natural dynamic between men and women that exists in the realm of reality.
Today I will run through some thots (not a typo) on the following points:
The Sex Crisis For Men (why men are having way less sex/dating success)
The Options Conundrum (why it’s increasingly difficult to meet people)
Modern Desensitization/dopamine (why it’s harming men particularly)
The Antidote to the current environment (how to transcend the madness and either have more success casually dating or finding a serious relationship)
This is meant to be a useful guide to explain the dating market in 2023 and the environment you’re up against if you want to see success casually dating or finding a more serious arrangement. We’ll look at some troubling statistics, relevant examples from modern day, and the way things are trending for the bottom tiers of men (grim).
Disclaimer - I’m not Sean Connery or Dan Bilzerian — I am a normal 30 year old guy with a family. At one point I was a bachelor in NYC and San Francisco and — for context purposes — did well for myself at 6 foot 5, with a decent job and above average confidence (more on this later) — so this is just one angle and opinion. But I recognize a pattern in my friends lives, family members, coworkers, etc. who continue to express how dismal the dating scene is right now or how hard it is to meet people.
Men in particular are fighting against a whole host of conditions that complicate and blur the dating market but more importantly, in my opinion, both sexes are unhappy with the current state of affairs, even if they don’t fully realize it.
The Sex Crisis For Men
Young men are having less sex than ever before in history. It’s quite troubling for all the homies. A recent Pew Research Center study found that among men under 30 years old, over 60 percent are single. What’s worse — levels of sexual intimacy across genders seem to have hit a roughly 30-year low (Lei & South, 2021).
The reasons?
