For context-- we were your typical young, college educated, white collar "moderates" who never grew up in gun-owning families but have been pushed(?) further libertarian & right in recent years due to all the reasons you stated in todays letter, among others. Who knows what the future will hold but we should be prepared.
Well said, I agree with everything you’ve written. I’d take it a step further and say there should be mandatory gun safety classes in high school, like we used to have.
Born & raised in Germany I was teached for the most part of my school life, from
the media and politicians that the USA is the worst example of our western Democracies and that guns are really bad so nobody needs them, because the state protects you. I was always interested in history and saw what happens here, when the federal gov has too much power. I’m 25 now got my bankers degree and Im finishing my university in 2 years. I hope the US has a place for me. Need to leave this shit show. Thanks for the work. Appreciate it.
Great work. Always learning something new from these letters. Living in NYC so obviously no ranges but ever since visiting TX and shooting for the first time, been wanting to go back and get trained/educated with firearms.
Andy, I think post like this one is your true calling. We need more long format media. You do an excellent job articulating your view and backing it up with creditable data. I hope you continue to write more pieces about geopolitics, macroeconomics, and history. Keep it up!

Liked the 1900s examples only… sad how you don’t have to go far back in time for a more extensive list. People will always be people. Hard topics to discuss openly, thought you were as fair as could be asked for with an existential issue. Keep ‘em coming, each seems to get better.

3D printers are not yet regulated, but ammo is the real chokepoint.
