Do we really believe USA officials were surprised by the Ukrainian incursion into Russia? Seems like something that would require a lot of training, planning, and intel, no? Think they’re playing dumb to try and keep Russia from doing something crazy
This is probably wishful thinking on my part… but hypothetically, if you wanted to end a war in a negotiated settlement it would be advantageous to have a bargaining chip (I’ll trade you this patch of dirt for that patch of dirt).
