Good morning everyone. While markets continue to chop back and forth I wanted to put out a post to help our readers. On the heels of our How to Leverage Summer post I thought it could be timely to drop a mega guide to the current job/role openings across finance and technology for our subscribers.
Today’s post is to help our community become more aware of recent/relevant job openings that are popping up. I’ve been in a spot at former jobs where I wanted to do the first 3-4 hours of research for new roles but got caught up, busy, or distracted in my current job. Then 3 years passes and you’re still at the same shop. Kidding, but not really.
I thought I would knock out 3-4 hours of that process to bring you guys some of the best and highest paying job openings in Tech/Finance identified, pulled from specific search criteria, and synthesized from popular job sites and corporate websites (Linkedin, Company Websites, Monster, Indeed, efinancialcareers, etc.
This comprehensive list shows that despite the layoffs and general bad sentiment, there are still great roles opening from top companies across the board. Truth is I am looking for new roles — so I have been conducting this research anyway and wanted to expand it to help you guys get a jump start if you’re looking or curious about what’s out there.
I’m sure there’s many people who are contemplating moves from their current roles but maybe they are hesitant given the macroeconomic environment amd layoffs that have plagued many high growth industries over the last six months. I am a huge proponent of taking on new roles and job hopping under the right conditions for pay raises, better opportunities, and promotions.
It’s one of the best ways to grow your career prospects and make more cash, learn new and better skills, and get a refreshing change of culture or scenery.
Another reason to at least have some options on the table is the unpredictable job market and economy in the US and around the world. Having some second or third options to branch swing to or simply having a hege in mind is super important in the unfortunate event you lose your job, get fired, or simply become the victim of a shitty work environment where you absolutely need change as fast as possible.
I returned to the office recently and found new security and entrance procedures to get into the building and broader office — including a scanning system that registers when I enter the office, how long I am there, which days I clock in, and where in the office I am working.
We covered the recent dystopian tech being implemented at shops like JPMorgan where facial scans are keeping tabs on employees emotions, reactions, work schedules, and more — this is going to be the new norm moving forward and with the advent of AI technology, automation, and slim company models, everyone should be a bit uneasy about the security of their roles in the long term unless they are a .01% performer.
So even if you aren’t actively looking it doesn’t hurt to find out if you could have some options if things take a turn for the worse or you want to move on — for any reason.
Today’s post is our first compilation of potentially a handful of guides to the best financial and technology job openings on the market within the last month - though many are from the last 2 weeks or several days, ensuring we are providing fresh openings and not stale chasm bound roles that aren’t getting filled.
I made a point of filtering through to find the newest roles with the fewest new applicants. I focused primarily on top companies in both the finance and technology sector.
Substack limits the amount of hyperlinks you can utilize in a post so I’ve made each posting incredibly simple so that a simple CTRL-C CTRL V will allow you to locate them on the internet if you are interested in applying for the role.
On the finance front there are investment banking roles, trading roles, sales roles, private equity/hedge fund roles, and other disciplines within financial services with openings of all levels and geographies (with an emphasis on San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and other major cities with fully remote listings as well.
We’ve focused on tech and finance because traditionally these sectors offer the highest pay, best benefits, and richest career opportunities and skill sets for future use. The guide contains entry level roles up to Director level.
On the technology front cities overlap though more of these roles are hybrid or remote. There seems to be a strong sustained trend of back to office full time for finance, particularly bulge bracket banks and larger shops. Each posting will contain:
The role
The main key qualification needed
The job’s location
How long it’s been since the role was posted
Basic salary info if provided
Hybrid (designated as hybrid), Remote (designated as remote) or in office (blank)
The role’s primary source (skewed towards Linkedin since that’s easiest and most popular for finance/tech
Each posting follows this format (example):
Citadel - US Physical Gas Specialist - Greenwich, CT - Hybrid
Prior U.S. physical gas experience, excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail, and maintain a deep knowledge of the physical U.S. gas markets, pipelines, regulations, and constraints
$200,000/yr - $250,000/yr (Posted 2 days ago Linkedin)
Each listing notes whether you can apply on Linkedin since that’s generally the easiest way to apply outside personal connections.
This first guide took close to 5 hours to synthesize and it contains only the best jobs and roles that are open on the market so today’s post is for premium subscribers — if you’re interested in these deep dive/long form type posts, we do them 1-2X a week on a variety of topics from geopolitics to lifestyle to markets to politics and keep price low so all have a chance to access.
We’ll detail 85+ of the top open roles in finance and technology so you can make yourself aware of the current market, apply to ones you’re interested in, and potentially get that new slick job where you’re making more money and doing what you actually want to do.
We’ll start today with the top finance roles on the market.
