INTRO TO PREPPING
In response to incredibly high demand, we have chosen to do an Arb Letter on the basics of “prepping”. We’re not talking tin foil hat, lock yourself in a basement in Nebraska type of prepping, we’re talking realistic levels of preparation any reasonable person should take to protect themselves, their family, and be better situated in the unfortunate event that you’re directly impacted by a crisis or conflict in the United States or anywhere in the world.
Even as a 29 year old working professional in NYC over the last 7 years, I have prepped in one way or another where I can, and actually saw the benefits of my prepping come into play when Covid ripped through Manhattan in 2020 (will elaborate shortly). This edition of Arb Letter will help you think about the basics of prepping and how to keep yourself and loved ones safe. Prepping is an extensive topic, and this edition of Arb Letter tries to cram as much as I can into one email.
I write on many topics within Arb Letter so I think it’s important to set context and explain some of the nuances of my writing style and method for summarizing what I know. I am not an expert in survival or prepping, nor former military or law enforcement. I take these things seriously and have taken precautions over the years to feel ready to deal with a number of life’s curveballs.
However, I have educated myself extensively on the topics I do write on and if I can share some of what I have learned with you or help steer you in the right direction to make the best decision for yourself, then I will have reached my goal. Improvement by osmosis.
What I can say is that I consistently aim to provide you guys with the best aggregated version of critical information and options for the themes I write on. That’s the value, that and the fact that it’s becoming increasingly rare and difficult to find reliable central sources for this type of raw information, as it is being censored, misquoted, and stretched to fit larger political narratives.
I feel that right now in the United States things are progressing rapidly downwards on a number of fronts (socially , economically, politically), I don’t mean to be a ruthless pessimist but, I can tell you that we are likely in for some surprises at home and it doesn’t hurt to be ready to overcome challenges. Being pragmatic will benefit you greatly and in this edition I lay out how you can prepare for unexpected events, what you should have in terms of basics, and provide you with the best resources I know about for preparing/entering a prepping mind set.
Prepare for bad times so you can have peace of mind in good times. This is an Arb Letter premium article. For less than the cost of a shitty Starbucks venti coffee a month, you get access to our full archives, premium posts, and exclusive content/commentary.
Sharpen yourself lords and stop relying on boomer news outlets and millennial newsletters to tell you what you need to hear about the world you’re living in.
